The only disadvantages to an interchangeable head string trimmer is the additional weight in the handle, and a bit of time to swap the head out when necessary. I've mostly used the Stihl Kombi system, and have some experience with Echo's PAS. What are your thoughts? I can see the logic behind have only 1 engine that gets run more often instead of specialized tools, but something makes me skeptical about a Swiss Army knife for the yard. Have a walk-behind McClane edger already, so no need for a stick edger.I currently borrow my dad's Echo handheld hedge trimmer and extension ladder. Front of our house is covered in fig vine that needs to be trimmed every month or so during the summer, so a hedge trimmer on a pole is convenient.I can borrow a manual pole saw from a friend, but gas is so much better (right?) Few times a year need to use a pole saw.Primarily be using it as a string trimmer (.5 acre yard with a good amount of beds/fences/trees).I can't decide whether to get a dedicated straight shaft trimmer (Stihl FS56 RC-E or Husqvarna 322L) or a combination unit ( Echo PAS 225 or Stihl KM56 RC).
